Shanklin

Shanklin is located on the eastern side of the island. The town is split into two, with the town centre being accessible from the seafront by a cliff-lift. The town also has two distinct areas, the modern shopping area near the train station is home to well-known brands, while a short walk you arrive in Old Village Shanklin. The area is home to gift shops, coffee shops and the famous thatch buildings. The old village is also the location of Shanklin Chine.

The seafront is home to crazy golf, slot machines and plenty of ice cream shops! Shanklin used to have its own pier, but was sadly destroyed in the Great Storm of 1987, leaving Sandown Pier the only pier in the bay.

Transport:

Shanklin has connections to the rest of the island provided by Southern Vectis buses:

The Shanklin Steamer provides a shuttle service between the train station/old village and seafront.
