Bus: Needles Breezer Located at the most western point of the island, the battery was built to defend the western entrance of The Solent. Head down into the spotlight tunnel for a breath-taking view of the Needles. Next to the the Old Battery is the New Battery. it was the test ground for the British Satellite Black Arrow in the 1960's
