Appuldurcombe House

Once the grandest house on the Isle of Wight, Appuldurcombe House is now just a shell of its former self. Starting life in the early 18th Century as a mansion, it then became a Hotel, School for Young Gentlemen, Residence for Monks and then it was taken over by the army in both world wars. The house was bombed in 1943, which resulted in the house being damaged beyond repair.

The grounds of the house offer amazing view over Whitwell and the St Boniface Down.

The house is also well-known for being one of the most haunted places on the island, with Most Haunted even paying a visit.
